How-to Guides

Glazed tiles do not require painting. However, cheaper cement tiles used in the building industry, on roofs and windowsills, often require painting.
Preparation
New tiles

Previously oiled, alkyd, PVA or acrylic painted tiles
If the paint is in poor condition:
- remove it
If the surface is in good condition:
- clean it to remove all dirt and grime before painting.
Unpainted and covered with fungus
- Remove visible fungi and dirt.
- Apply one coat of Dekro Fungicidal Solution or an HTH solution.
- Allow to dry.
- Brush down with a stiff bristle brush.
Store paints in a cool area out of direct sunlight. Some types of coatings build up gases in the can and could explode if not stored in a cool place.
